For more than two decades, Donald MacAskill has been involved with the Royal Canadian Legion in various roles, including those of executive member, sergeant-at-arms, and resident handyman. He also serves as a board member of the Steelworker's and Sydney Pensioner's Club, and previously volunteered with the Senior Skaters Health Project as well as with the Cadets.
