Jamie Long has been a volunteer since she was 11 years old. She started with the Kids Club at her church and then joined the local Junior Volunteer Fire Department. In 2012, she joined Harvest Youth Ministries then travelled throughout Nova Scotia to raise awareness of the challenges faced by today's youth. In 2014, she won an essay contest by writing about the stigma surrounding youth mental health; in 2015, she raised funds for a volunteer trip to the Dominican Republic organized by Me to We and Free The Children.
