A community-minded individual, Mel Viner has been active with the Canadian Diabetes Association for the past 20 years and the Canadian Cancer Society for the past 13 years. Through door-to-door canvassing and direct outreach, in addition to recruiting volunteers, he has raised a cumulative $350,000 for both organizations to this day.
