Helen Hillier has worked to engage the citizens of Ituna through such organizations as the Ituna Recreation Board, the St. Stanislaus Women's League and Communities in Bloom (CiB) over the past 20 years. With her fellow volunteers, she has increased civic pride, achieved provincial recognition for the local CiB chapter, and helped to establish several green spaces including the Avena Gardens historical park and the Ituna Community Fruit Orchard.
