In 2006, David Gagnon joined the Canadian Armed Forces; after becoming a reservist and being deployed to Afghanistan, he joined the ranks of the Regular Forces in 2010. In 2012, he became a Red Cross first aid volunteer and participated in such events as the Pierre Lavoie challenge, the Parc Jean-Drapeau youth party, the Montréal Marathon and the fight against multiple sclerosis.
