Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

For close to 15 years, Barbara Hajt volunteered approximately 700 hours a year with the Metropolitan Toronto Auxiliary Police. She contributed to her community's safety by conducting foot patrols, providing crowd and traffic control and going door-to-door giving neighbourhood watch talks. More recently, she spent two days a week sorting, packaging and distributing food for the Holy Family Catholic Church Food Bank. Ms. Hajt often used vacation days in order to be at the Food Bank. Her selfless generosity has greatly benefited the Parkdale area of Toronto.
