Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Since coming to Canada in 1956, Thaddeus Dreher has worked tirelessly to promote multiculturalism in St. John's. He is a founding member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Multicultural and Folk Arts Council, established in 1979, and has served as its president since 1987. Under his guidance, the Council has organized many educational and entertaining communal events, fostering diversity, social harmony and cross-cultural understanding. He has facilitated the settlement of many immigrant families and has raised funds to assist minority students. Through his exceptional leadership and commitment, he has enriched the lives of many Canadians-young and old.
