Tina Buhler, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Governor General's Caring Canadian Award Tina Buhler has opened her heart to many people in her community. She welcomed unwed mothers into her home, helping them until they gained enough confidence to go out on their own. Twenty-one years ago, she co-founded the Mennonite Central Committee Food Grains auction, a yearly event, whose proceeds are distributed to third-world countries. For the last ten years, she has volunteered twice a week at the Palliative Care Centre of St. Paul's Hospital. She sits with the patients, holds their hands, listens to their stories and comforts them and their families. In addition, Mrs. Buhler prepares food and gift hampers for families in need.
