Peggy Engen, Calgary, Alberta
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Peggy Engen has devoted over 50 years of service to the community of Tuxedo Park. With her late husband, she coached several hockey, baseball and lacrosse teams, and for many years she flooded and cleaned the outdoor arena and ran the community centre canteen. She has volunteered on the board of the Tuxedo Park Community Association in many capacities and is serving her third term as president. After a fire damaged the community hall, Mrs. Engen was instrumental in its re-opening. She has also helped to establish a youth shelter and has lent her support to several group homes for people with disabilities.
