From the age of 12, Cyprienne Morissette has been volunteering with local organizations. In 1984, she founded the Inner Wheel Club, which helps disadvantaged children in area elementary schools. She also helped to found an organization that helps child victims of sexual or physical abuse. Her most remarkable contribution has been her volunteer work with the Maison Catherine de Longpré, a residence for people with terminal cancer in Beauce, where care is provided at no cost to the individuals. In 1987, she organized a fundraising campaign that, in six months, raised enough money to build a palliative care unit that opened in 1989. It is a place where patients can live out their final days in peace, respect and dignity, surrounded by their loved ones.
