Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Doug Third devotes his time and energy to assisting others in his community. He visits and cares for senior citizens and people who are ill in their homes, and delivers Meals-on-Wheels to isolated people, in addition to coordinating driver routes and schedules. At his own expense, he equipped his vehicle to transport wheelchair-users and drives them to medical appointments which, because of Sechelt's isolation from the mainland, can often take many hours.
