With his extensive traditional knowledge of the land and weather, Quvianatuliaq Takpaungai has voluntarily helped in numerous search and rescue operations, saving many lives. Without thought of recompense, he has searched for and found missing hunters and injured people, and transported them to safety. Whenever an emergency occurs, he is one of the first people the community turns to for help.
