Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Kay Olson plays a very active role in her community. For 41 years, she was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 38 Ladies' Auxiliary as well as its treasurer. For the last three years, she has been secretary for the Royal Canadian Legion. For more than 30 years, Mrs. Olson has also been a member and treasurer of the Quebec Women's Institute. For 26 years, she was Commissioner for the Lennoxville District School Board and Eastern Townships School Board, every year bringing candy canes to the school children at Christmas time. A director of the Board of Saint Paul's Rest Home, she often visits the elderly, offering them company and support, and providing transportation to meetings and doctors' appointments.
