Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Alexander Fletcher Spence has volunteered his expertise on behalf of youth and sport for over 40 years. He has coached track and field voluntarily at Lindsay Place High School, for the Pointe-Claire Windmills and the McGill Olympic Running Club. He has selflessly devoted his time to improving the skills of local athletes. Now in his seventies, with a double hip replacement, Mr. Spence seldom misses a track practice or competition. In fostering pride and excellence in countless young athletes, Mr. Spence has been a tireless contributor to the well-being of his community.
