Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

For the past 17 years, Vera June Phillips has been volunteering with the Langley local of the British Columbia Special Olympics, and for countless years prior to that, with the Ontario Special Olympics, as a coach, mentor and coordinator. Mrs. Phillips has driven athletes to tournaments and practices and has spent countless hours measuring and sizing uniforms for them. Not only does she work within the organization, but she also works to increase awareness of the Special Olympics program in the community at large.
Mrs. Phillips is a caring and compassionate member of her community.
