Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
After volunteering with a variety of youth and community groups, including KIDSAFE, Quita Longmore became a support worker for people with AIDS, and their families. She became involved with the Persons With AIDS (PWA) Society and worked in many capacities, including peer counsellor, special events organizer and co-chair of the society's Prison Outreach Program. Ms. Longmore operated the PWA lounge for many years to provide food and warmth to those without family and friends. She also coordinates the registration team for the yearly Walk For AIDS.
