Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
A veteran volunteer worker at Seedrioru (Cedar Valley), the Estonian children's summer camp, Harry Parkma has long promoted Estonian culture in Canada. After immigrating in 1951, he joined the local cultural society and helped found the summer camp society, which he served for twenty-five years. Mr. Parkma has also been involved in national councils and was instrumental in establishing the first Estonian Song Festival in Canada, the Estonian Girl Guides and Boy Scouts Association, the Estonian Male Choir Festival and Estonian Days in Canada.
