Ronald Brown, Baie d'Urfé, Que.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Since his retirement in 1990, Ronald Brown has volunteered at the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Hospital for veterans, annually devoting hundreds of hours. He has assisted with speech therapy, but is especially well-known for his development of a very successful art therapy program. The program provides patients with an enjoyable creative outlet while improving their morale and, in the case of patients who have had a stroke, their manual dexterity. Mr. Brown also recently served as President of the Hospital's Volunteer Services for a three-year term.
