Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
For almost 30 years, Jane Hill has donated her time to the Distress Centre, an agency offering an around-the-clock help line for the lonely, distressed and suicidal. As a volunteer for the Centre she has spent countless hours providing hope to those experiencing problems including suicidal crisis or domestic violence. She has participated in the training of new volunteers and has been a tireless advocate and fund-raiser for the Centre. Mrs. Hill has also assisted a mission for people suffering from alcoholism and has volunteered for the Toronto Wellesley Hospital's Gift Shop and Ulcer Clinic. A committed and innovative volunteer, she has always sought to surpass expectations and wherever possible, to improve services for those less fortunate.
