    Jean Rice, Vancouver, B.C. Governor General's Caring Canadian Award Jean Rice, who suffers from myasthenia gravis, a rare autoimmune disease, founded the Myasthenia Gravis Association of British Colombia in 1955 to provide information, support and companionship to hundreds of MG patients and their families. When not playing a vital role in the MG Association, she is active within the B.C. Chapter of Sweet Adelines International, barber shop quartets of women which she founded in 1954.
