Donald MacGregor Smith, Larder Lake, Ont.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Donald MacGregor Smith was one of the original Volunteer Emergency Medical First Responders for the Township of Larder Lake almost twenty years ago and, for eight years, was team co-ordinator. This medical team was established to respond to medical emergencies in the community until an ambulance arrives from the nearest hospital in Kirkland Lake. Mr. Smith has also been a dedicated volunteer firefighter for twenty years, serving for ten years as captain.
