Roger Hayward, Alliston, Ont.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

A tireless volunteer, Roger Hayward has continuously taken part in community activities, ranging from Meals on Wheels and literacy projects, to the Alliston Potato Festival and the Canadian Cancer Society. Mr. Hayward is best known, however, for his important contributions to Rotary International. He has been involved at almost every level, from the local branch to the International Service and the Rotary Foundation. He also served as a Rotary District Governor, covering an area that includes Metropolitan Toronto and other communities from Alliston to Picton, and supported the organization's PolioPlus campaign to eradicate polio in the world.
