Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
In addition to six children of her own and four adopted children, Aurore Gendron Charron has welcomed almost 200 children into her home, including 189 through the Children's Aid Society or just to help out needy families in Vanier. They were often difficult cases, young people who had been shunted around from one home to another. The children came at first to stay for a few days but ended up staying for years; some of them only left her home when they married. In addition to her dedication to children, Mrs. Gendron Charron has been a volunteer in many church activities.
