Archie MacGregor Simpson (posthumous), Kirkland Lake, Ontario
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Mr. Archie Simpson consistently contributed his time and talents to his Northern Ontario community. He volunteered with local groups such as the school board, Scouts Canada, his church, and the Kiwanis Club. He was particularly involved in the founding of the Dorothy Lake Presbyterian Camp for children, the Cochrane Temiskaming Children's Treatment Centre and the Northwood Camp for Physically Disabled Children. For more than thirty-five years, he also provided transportation for children to enable their access to Northwood's programs and services. In addition, through his longstanding support of the VON, he contributed to the health and care of community residents.
