Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Cecile Guay has been an active volunteer and advocate for people in need and for people with disabilities for many years. She has been involved in numerous groups, such as the B.C. Coalition of Disabled Persons, Concerned Persons for the Handicapped, and has been a particularly active force with the federated anti-poverty groups of British Columbia. Although she is no longer President of this organization, she remains its heart and soul and is still active as a much-respected advocate and organizer. Mrs. Guay is now a member of the Board of the B.C. Public Interest Advocacy Centre.
