Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
In 1992, Tom Lowden created the Gifts for Kids project, through which he and other RCMP officers solicit donations, wrap gifts and deliver them by plane and snowmobile to children in need during the Christmas season. More recently, he started the Onside Program to bring RCMP officers and underprivileged youth together to allow young people to attend professional sporting events and meet positive role models.
