Marian Faith Malkinson, Fairview, Alberta
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
One of Fairview, Alberta's early settlers, Marian Malkinson has given years of voluntary service to her community. A founding member of the local Women's Institute more than fifty years ago, she also helped found the first library in Fairview and volunteered there for more than forty years. In addition, she was actively involved over the years in a number of clubs and activities -- athletic, civic and cultural -- and raised funds for many charitable causes. Mrs. Malkinson's community spirit and involvement helped to build Fairview from the very beginning.
