Lieutenant-Colonel (Retd) Jack Fawcett, Ottawa, Ont.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Over the past four decades, LCol Jack Fawcett has, with great dedication, voluntarily pursued historical research into the Canadian Scottish Regiment and its members. Countless hours of examining records and archives, identifying and tabulating events, and cross-referencing names have resulted in complete citations for individuals recognized for bravery, biographies for all personnel killed in action during WWII, and sailing lists for both World Wars. LCol Fawcett has also researched the Regiment's battle honours and was a founding member of the Regiment's Endowment Fund, which supports activities that perpetuate traditional values of Canadian military heritage.
