Anna Marie Pepin, Niagara Falls, Ontario
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Over the past 42 years, Marie Pepin has cared for any child who needed her help. Working with the aboriginal community, she has collected and delivered food and clothing to northern reserves and camps. While in Toronto, she cared for street people. Now living in Niagara Falls, she assists in the soup kitchen and with a native literacy programme. She is a rare person who quietly and humbly gives of herself for the sake of others. Those who know her are aware of her life's passion to serve others as she continues to weave a bright thread through the fabric of her community.
