An active member of his Acadian community, Édouard Blanchard volunteers with a number of organizations, including the Comité acadien de Rustico, the Knights of Columbus, the Rustico Bay seniors club, and the St. Thomas Aquinas Society of Prince Edward Island. It is through his voluntarism with the latter that he helped to establish a day care and community centre for francophones. He also takes great interest in the genealogy and history of the region, and is currently involved in the restoration of an important historical building, the Rustico Farmers' Bank.
