Ruth Boyd, Argenta, British Columbia
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
For much of her life, Ruth Boyd has been devoted to the education of Argenta's youth. She was involved in the establishment of a boarding school in the late 1950s and cared for students as a house-parent. For more than twenty years, she has volunteered four days a week as a library assistant at a school some 60 km from her home, helping the teaching staff and students. A respected elder of the Quaker community, she is always ready to listen to, counsel or comfort anyone in need.
