Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
After emigrating to Canada from Switzerland in 1950, Maria Logan joined the Canadian Red Cross Corps, performing many volunteer activities. She registered at blood donor clinics, raised funds for the famine in Ethiopia, helped trace family members after earthquakes, and assisted refugees and elderly adults at the airport. Mrs. Logan has also been a mainstay of the Vancouver Swiss Society, for which she organized the Vancouver Swiss Choir and a senior citizens program. She regularly visits senior Society members who are hospitalized and accompanies them on walks and other outings. Since 1961, Mrs. Logan has been a volunteer with the Vancouver Citizenship Council.
