    Suzanne Hétu-Eng, Etobicoke, Ont. Governor General's Caring Canadian Award After Suzanne Hétu-Eng's infant son survived cancer, she focused all her energy on serving cancer-stricken children and their families. For the past twelve years, she has been full-time volunteer President of the Lamplighter's Children's Leukemia-Cancer Association, dedicated to improving the quality of life of cancer patients at the Montreal Children's Hospital. Her efforts and commitment have led to much-needed medical research and treatment equipment, an outpatient treatment clinic, a cancer-treatment ward, a 24-hour answering service, support groups, public education, activities for the children, financial assistance to the hospital's haematology, child life and social services departments, and more.
