Eleanor Côté, Mont-Royal, Que.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Eleanor Côté has devoted much of her life to the welfare of community residents. She is quick to lend her efforts to any activity, including wrapping Christmas presents for the Cancer Society, selling daffodils for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, or stuffing envelopes for Girl Guides' publicity campaigns. She has served with associations for the mentally handicapped and volunteered at a sheltered workshop for people with disabilities. For the last few years, she has worked tirelessly at a nursing home, helping with volunteers and translation, shopping for residents, and running a weekly afternoon bingo party. Mrs. Côté was also very involved in the Town's 75th Anniversary celebrations in 1987.
