Frances Smith has consistently cared for others throughout the years. At her church, she helped with fundraising suppers, operated the Opportunity Shop to provide people in need with used clothing, and gave informal workshops on meal preparation and managing finances. She runs a Christmas Cheer project, providing children with warm clothing, toys and food, and helped form a UNICEF branch and a community project to help women and children in distress. Mrs. Smith belongs to many volunteer organizations, including the local hospital auxiliary, and also helps people privately, providing clothing and food, advising youth, and driving fellow nursing home residents to and from meetings, events or appointments.
