Pauline Monnette, Grande Prairie, Alberta
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Most people would be happy to relax after raising 13 children and dedicating a lifetime to helping manage the family farm. Instead, Pauline Monnette decided to look for new challenges. For the past 16 years, she has volunteered with the Salvation Army Food Bank in Grande Prairie. She devotes three hours a day, five days a week to sorting, packing and stocking food, and preparing hampers. She has never missed a day at the Food Bank and has made herself indispensable. In her quiet but efficient way, Mrs. Monnette is a model of dedication and commitment to her community.
