Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
To care for disadvantaged persons, Carmen Mercier Côté founded and chaired the Domaine de l'Hirondelle seniors' residence, which allows some one dozen seniors with reduced autonomy to stay in their own community. She has also been the founding president for over 20 years of a service organization that provides meals for bereaved persons. In her parish, she is a long-time member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Christian women's movement. Whether by opening up her own home to disadvantaged persons, serving in a various agricultural organizations, or taking up the cause of homeless persons, Mrs. Mercier Côté has made a difference in her community through the consistency and variety of her volunteer work.
