Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
A recent graduate of Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Monty Raisinghani was a peer tutor and president of the student council. In addition to coordinating many multicultural days and charitable fundraisers, he founded Royals Against Violence (RAVE), a group of students who meet weekly to discuss strategies to reduce violence within the school. He also created an annual Christmas dinner at the school for patrons of local food banks. With the help of fellow students, he contacted local businesses to obtain donations of food and beverages for over 200 people who attend the dinner, as well as gifts for each child. Mr. Raisinghani has created beneficial programs, fostered a culture of acceptance and kindled a community spirit that will thrive long after his graduation.
