Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Elizabeth Gross has launched a number of charitable initiatives in Ottawa. She helped establish Centre 507, a drop-in centre offering hot food and companionship in addition to employment and street outreach services. She spearheaded the Centretown Laundry Co-op and created a school breakfast and lunch program. She has also co-chaired a Christmas Hamper committee, for which she spent many evenings packing boxes and sorting food for distribution to 150 needy families. An active member of her church, its camps and Canadian Girls in Training, Mrs. Gross has forged strong and lasting relationships with many of the people she has met over the years, providing them with ongoing advice and support.
