Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Exceptional women and volunteers, Genevieve Follett and Frances Pearson have dedicated countless hours to helping seniors in the small community of Placentia, Newfoundland and Labrador. Mrs. Follett and Mrs. Pearson have devoted 15 and 20 years respectively to the Placentia Health Centre, attending to the needs of its elders. Mrs. Pearson volunteers on a daily basis at the Centre, assisting in nearly all conceivable capacities, while Mrs. Follet, herself a frequent volunteer at the Centre, is also a 21-year member of the Star of the Sea Association's Ladies Auxiliary. Highly respected by residents, visiting families and staff, both recipients bring much-appreciated smiles and energy to the Centre.
