Mary Sinclair, Ottawa, Ontario
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

For over 30 years, Mary Sinclair has contributed her expertise as a former social worker towards the care and welfare of children and their families. She has provided leadership and guidance to the Andrew Fleck Child Care Services since 1986 and, in particular, headed the development of educational and support groups for foster parents. She also assisted in the creation of many initiatives benefiting working families and caregivers, and has raised considerable money for the construction of a new child care building. In addition, she has devoted 10 years to International Social Service Canada, organizing benefits for various humanitarian causes. Within her parish, she is a dedicated fundraiser and scripture reader, and has actively participated in a seniors' outreach program.
