Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Demonstrating true leadership, René Boucher has worked tirelessly for over 35 years as a volunteer for the Club de patinage artistique de Laval. He has served in many key roles within the organization, in addition to sitting on various committees and managing the club's finances. For 30 years, he has coordinated the Revue sur glace ice show and also co-founded the Pirouettes de Laval in 1979, a club for young synchronized skaters. During the last 15 years, he presided over the Laval International skating competition and has helped to raise money for Leucan, a charitable organization assisting children with cancer. His extraordinary efforts also include serving on the finance committee for Maison des soins palliatifs de Laval, a palliative care residence in Laval.
