    Mariette Dandeneau Lavallée, Saint-Damien, Quebec Governor General's Caring Canadian Award Through her involvement with a number of organizations, Mariette Dandeneau Lavallée has given back to her community of Saint-Damien, Quebec, for more than 40 years. From 1967, Mrs. Dandeneau Lavallée has worked with the Artisanes de Saint-Damien, promoting the role of women in society and the preservation of cultural heritage. Throughout the 1970s, she worked with the municipal council to restore the recreational infrastructure of Saint-Damien. An outstanding organizer, she has also worked tirelessly to help alleviate poverty through the local Daughters of Isabella Circle, and to promote intergenerational interaction through a program that brings together seniors and school children. Mrs. Dandeneau Lavallée's dedication is worthy of the highest praise.
