For over 45 years, René Bérubé has been volunteering for a number of causes to advance recreation, economic development and health care in rural communities. In 1980, he founded the Conseil de promotion économique de la Rive-Sud (COPERS) and, in 1985, what is today the Community Futures Development Corporation and Business Development Centre. In 2000, he helped to set up La Petite École daycare centre in Saint-Léonard d'Aston. Today, he supports health-related causes and organizations that promote physical activity or language learning.
