For over 15 years, Valerie and Hugh Saunderson have supported Operation Christmas Child, a program that distributes gift-filled shoeboxes to children living in desperate circumstances throughout the world. They have transformed their basement into a small warehouse of toys and supplies, where they fill approximately 1 200 boxes per year. Every November, they go to the Kitchener sorting centre and help inspect thousands of shoeboxes before they are packed and shipped to countries around the world.
