Gloria and Gordon Edick, Mississauga, Ontario
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Married for more than 50 years, giving has always been a way of life for Gloria and Gordon Edick. Mr. And Mrs. Edick helped establish Nazareth House, a non-denominational residence where homeless women, unwed mothers and their babies and women in need of support can get help. They have served their community by filling food containers for the Canadian Food for Children organization and serving meals at the Good Shepherd Refuge in Toronto. As members of the Cawthra Seniors' Club, they provide transportation for daily activities. Mr. And Mrs. Edick volunteer at the Trillium Health Centre and frequently visit patients in continuing care at the Mississauga site with their "therapy dog" named Sandy. They are active members of their parish, both serving on the social committee, arranging activities for youth, families and seniors.
