Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

A member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 47 years, Harry Bastable has coordinated and participated in many of the Legion's programs. He has demonstrated a commitment to his community by visiting veterans in long-term care facilities, providing them with transportation, organizing bingo games and collecting eyeglasses for Operation Eyesight. In addition, for many years, Mr. Bastable has visited schools and nursing homes in November to conduct Remembrance Day services, ensuring that the contribution of Canada's veterans is not forgotten.
