Winston and Eileen Smith have devoted themselves to helping people in their community who are in need of assistance, especially people with disabilities. The Smiths have volunteered their time to the scouts and guides, canvassed for various charities and, in the 1980s, were actively involved with the fund-raising for and the establishment of Parkway House, a residential facility for persons with disabilities. They also helped to integrate Vietnamese refugees into their community and parish, and remain very active in their church, where Eileen is co-chair of the Care Givers Committee and Winston is a Trustee.
