Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Since Saro Panuccio emigrated to Canada from Italy in 1951, he has devoted himself to helping newly-arrived immigrants adjust to Canadian life, find work, and acquire Canadian citizenship. He produced a bulletin to help the Italian-Canadian community keep informed and maintain a sense of fellowship, as well as a fact-sheet providing immigrants with useful information about Canada. Mr. Panuccio has also been involved with youth and seniors' groups, and been an avid fund-raiser for charitable organizations in the Ottawa area.
