Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Catherine McRae, retired from nursing since 1982, continues to contribute to the Glengarry Memorial Hospital in Alexandria, Ontario by visiting patients and serving with the Women's Auxiliary. In her Dunvegan village community, she also volunteers with her church, provides a taxi service for shut-ins, and visits friends and neighbours, caring for those who are ill or in need of care in times of crisis. Her cheerful outlook and willingness to help anyone in need have comforted many community residents.
